The Morning Forum of Los Altos

The Morning Forum of Los Altos celebrates its 60th year of bringing local speakers as well as nationally known figures to a pleasant and friendly venue convenient to the citizens of the Los Altos region. The speakers are university professors, journalists, government representatives, activists, authors, musicians, and other widely respected experts in their fields. The wide range of topics as well as the eminence of the speakers has kept membership and attendance at its limit for many years. A quick look at the “Archives” tab and its link to articles about previous speakers will confirm why the Morning Forum has remained so popular for so many years.

“While developing my sheet of film or bringing a print out into the light I can’t help but think of the countless experiments by Fox Talbot in search of fixer or a faster emulsion.  The lengths to which pictorial photographers went to prove that artistic control is possible in this art form as much as in any other and the fight for the acceptance of straight photography as an independent medium of expression undertaken by members of Group F64.  A still image can convey a tremendous amount of emotion and that photography is a perfect vehicle for communicating their personal world views, a vehicle which can brake the barriers of class, culture and even time.
